Take the road over the hill from Portmagee to Saint Finnian's Bay, and then continue on to Ballinskelligs, and that's where there's a good view out towards the Skellig Islands. Imagine living out there, almost in the void - the hermits who did were cut off from the mainland for months at a time, because of the weather and the rough seas. But what a way to experience nature. The Skelligs are a wildlife sanctuary so the number of visitors per year to Skellig Michael is restricted. Little Skellig has never been inhabited and as far as I know is inaccessible to all but birds and seals.
