This original work is sold unframed, with hanging hooks and string at the back, so it’s ready to hang.
One of my more sombre pieces, this painting with abstracted figures was inspired by travel and crowds as well as popular motifs and archetypes in Western art. There’s a woman with a child, family groups, people walking, talking, standing, gesturing. The colour palette is limited to dark purple, pinks, blues, yellow ochre and off-whites with a hint of red in the figures in the foreground. The space between the figures in the foreground leads the eye towards the groups of figures towards the back, none of which are identifiable as individuals, but merely as members of a crowd, anonymous individuals that inhabit a city. It’s a painting that was created at a dark time. As always, I was searching for light.
